    Welcome to WeLoveItShop:

We are confidient that you are aware that buying and selling of antiques is one of the oldest forms of recycling there is. People for centuries have been buying, selling and passing on items that are collectable, decorative or of household use and are valued because of their age, rather than throw them away .Despite this some items may be damaged or have gone out of fashion as we move through this modern age of development and technology at a very fast pace.

    The business aim of WeLoveItShop:
is to make use of and upcycle antique,
vintage and Retro items that have lost their sparkle or are out of vogue/trend. Through this process (marrying the contemporary with items from times past) we can design and produce bespoke and one-off furniture pieces/items. By doing this we are keeping items out of the ever growing problem of the waste cycle and associated environmental issues.

As with all our vintage pieces there are no two the same!

We are also delighted to provide as much help and information as we can, including further pictures of items where you have serious interest, but would just like to make absolutely certain prior to commiting to buy.

We will also list some items that we have not yet worked on, so that you might like to aquire them and put your passions, interests, flair (and alot of love!) into them yoursleves., either as a one off project or, perhaps, the start of something you might grow into your own business. Enquires to this end are welcomed.

  • A Century Of Thrillers – From Poe to Arlen – Vintage Book 1937

A lovely, thick book containing a collection of thrillers, including The Mortal Immortal by Mary Shelley, The Murders in The Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe, and The Birthday of Infanta by Oscar Wilde. All in all, there are 47 separate stories. There are also beautiful illustrations.

  • Emily Climbs – by L. M. Montgomery – Vintage Book – 1941

A sweet little version of Emily Climbs by L. M. Montgomery – published 1941.

The spine is fraying, but it makes it all the more appealing to the vintage lover 🙂

This book is a fantastic shade of green.

  • Myths and Legends – Vintage Book – The Golden Pathway Series – 1958

A superb book of stories and poetry of Myths & Legends, published in 1958.

“Folk tales from many lands with a special appeal to children. Concluded by a separate section of stories from the Bible”.

This book is so lovely – it’s a great size with a really good sized text for older children, together with beautiful colour plates throughout and black and white illustrations. It does not appear to have been read.

Some of the stories and poems included in this lovely book are…
    The Winged Horse
    The Wonderful Adventures of Perseus
    The Wooden Horse
Connla of the Golden Hair and the Fairy Maiden
    A Legend of King Arthur
    Robin Hood (by John Keats)
    William Tell
Rip Van Winkle and the Goblins
    Christmas Eve (by Thomas Hardy)
The King of the Golden River (by John Ruskin)
    plus many more!

The book is in great condition, with a bright blue cover.

  • The Houses in Between – Howard Spring – Vintage Book – Novel – 1954

A sweet little book with lovely thin pages, in a dark green cover.

This is a novel first published in 1951 – this version is 1954.

What appealed to me was this opening to the author’s foreword; “I see from some old letters that as long ago as 1940 I wrote to my agents asking them to obtain for me a copy of the music hall song containing the words: ‘You could see the Crystal Palace if it wasn’t for the houses in between’. The pathetic significance of the Crystal Palace had for long appealed to my imagination, and I wanted to make a novel out of the contrast between that fragile promise of peace and the dreadful realities of the years that followed”. What an image of the war years we get from that little opening paragraph.

There is no additional postage charge for multiple books.

  • Charles Dickens – by Una Pope-Hennessy – Vintage Book – 1947

Contains a few lovely illustrations of paintings of Charles Dickens at various ages.

  • Dust of Dreams – Denise Robins – Vintage Book – Book Production War Economy Standard marking

A lovely small book of the famous novel Dust of Dreams by Denise Robins, known as the “Queen of Romance”! This bookw as a 100-million copy bestseller.

This is a book published some time during the wartime years as it contains the “Book Production War Economy Standard” stamp with the lion on top. According to some internet research, the BBC “A History of the World” website explains the following:

“The need to conserve paper in Britain during World War II led to rationing from 1940 with Publishers having their paper supplies cut to 60% of their pre war usage. The ‘Book Production War Economy Agreement’ of 1942 between the Ministry of Supply and the Publishers Association bought in codes governing the production of books with strict guidelines covering print size, words per page, blank pages and so on. Whilst it was a voluntary agreement Publishers who didn’t join had their already rationed paper supply cut further. Despite the limitations placed on publishing during the War demand for books grew, especially amongst the less wealthy echelons of society. Paper rationing in Britain continued until 1949”.

There is no additional postage charge for multiple books.

  • The Chrysanthemum Growers Treasury – A. J. Macself – Vintage Book – Early 1950’s?

This is such a lovely book – it is full of wonderful photos and drawn illustrations telling you all about the chrysanthemum and how to grow and care for them.

I am guessing this to date from the early 1950’s, but sadly there is no date inside.

There is no additional postage charge for multiple books.
